Meet Me in the Morning

The chorus of one of Bill and Gloria Gaither’s finest songwriting efforts helps put the victory over the grave into perspective:

Then came the morning, night turned into day;

The stone was rolled away, hope rose with the dawn.

Then came the morning, shadows vanished before the sun,

Death had lost and life had won, for morning had come.

It’s not about a single event in history…and it’s not even just about our final destination. It’s about the journey and all our todays and tomorrows. Mornings come.

For Christ, the longest night lasted three days. For us on this earth, Satan is alive and well and working to spread the darkness. We will encounter hills…and valleys…along the way. Night falls and darkness creeps in at times. But for those who have surrendered to self and given their life to Christ, the very Spirit of the one who conquered Satan and darkness is within us and fills our being. Christ overcame…he reached the morning. We can, too. Come, Spirit, come!

When darkness threatens, embrace the Spirit, claim the promise, and get ready to rise and shine like the Son!

Through the heartfelt mercies of our God, God’s Sunrise will break in upon us, shining on those in the darkness, those sitting in the shadow of death, then showing us the way, one foot at a time, down the path of peace. –Luke 1:78-79
